Nuwarra Public School offers an oral/aural
programme to deaf and hearing-impaired students from three years old to
twelve years old. This programme is dedicated to teaching deaf
students how to speak, listen and communicate proficiently. Each
student accesses all areas of the regular curriculum within a small
class. Students receive intensive, individualized learning
programmes to develop communication and literacy skills to access the
language required across curriculum areas. Students are
integrated with their hearing peers into the regular classes according
to individual needs.

Nuwarra Public School also hosts the District
special language class for students who have moderate to severe
language disorder. The programme is designed to provide intensive
educational and communication programmes for students from Kindergarten
to Year Two. Each student is given the opportunity to reach
his/her full potential through accessing all Key Learning Areas of the
regular curriculum. Students are integrated into the regular
class according to their needs. Integration provides opportunities for
the students to experience good language models. This class is
assessed through District application and each child is assessed and
placed according to a priority need.
