Support Class - Hearing Impairment

Nuwarra Public School offers an oral/aural programme to deaf and hearing-impaired students from three years old to twelve years old.  This programme is dedicated to teaching deaf students how to speak, listen and communicate proficiently.  Each student accesses all areas of the regular curriculum within a small class.  Students receive intensive, individualized learning programmes to develop communication and literacy skills to access the language required across curriculum areas.  Students are integrated with their hearing peers into the regular classes according to individual needs.

Support Class - Language

Nuwarra Public School also hosts the District special language class for students who have moderate to severe language disorder.  The programme is designed to provide intensive educational and communication programmes for students from Kindergarten to Year Two.  Each student is given the opportunity to reach his/her full potential through accessing all Key Learning Areas of the regular curriculum.  Students are integrated into the regular class according to their needs. Integration provides opportunities for the students to experience good language models.  This class is assessed through District application and each child is assessed and placed according to a priority need.
