Afternoon Dismissal

School finishes at 3.00pm. The children are dismissed and walk to the gates - back (Maddecks Avenue) or front (McKay Avenue). Teaching staff supervise back and front gate dismissal. Parents are asked to collect their children at these exits and not in the school grounds or at the classroom. A responsible person is expected to collect each child at 3:00pm, especially for the first week, and after that for as long as is necessary, or until the child can walk home by himself/herself or with a friend. To avoid any unnecessary distress for your child, please be punctual. Students who haven’t been collected will be sent to the office where they will stay while we contact you. Make sure that your child and teacher are fully aware of any routine changes. Children should know never to go home with strangers. Those left at school whose parents can’t be contacted will be entrusted to the After School Care Centre - the cost of which will be the responsibility of parents.

Attendance

School begins at 9.00am with an assembly in the Quadrangle. It is important that children arrive on time. This is a parent responsibility. If children are absent for any reason, a note must be sent to the school with the child when they return, or as close there after as possible. If there is a problem a written note or verbal contact must be made with the teacher.
If a note is not received explaining the child’s absence, an official reminder note is sent from the classroom teacher. If there is still an unexplained absence, further enquiries are made at the Executive level. These procedures are in line with Department of Education and Training policy and protect your child’s safety and well-being.
