Helping Students at School

We have teachers at our school who are specifically trained to assist:

Mrs Angela Morley is the Support Teacher, Learning Difficulties person who coordinates our school programs. Students can be referred through our Learning Support Team Teachers and parents can make a referral if they are concerned about their child’s level of academic performance.

The Learning Support Team also addresses social and behaviour problems developing a program of interaction to assist the student and class teacher.
Mrs Morley is in our school two days per week. If there is a specific learning difficulty diagnosed by a doctor, speech pathologist or occupational therapist, support funding can be applied for each year. The funding allows for individual assistance and has to be evaluated each semester. This evaluation is called a Review Meeting and must have a parent in attendance.

Mrs Kerry Ryan is the English Second Language Teacher who coordinates our school programs. Students are assessed as to their needs and programs are developed in accordance with classroom teachers. Children can be withdrawn for specific language acquisition and this usually occurs in the early years of schooling. New Arrivals from overseas who arrive at the school with little or no English may be entitled to extra funding. Mrs Ryan is in our school three days per week.
