Health

Some common childhood health issues which will keep your child at home:

Chicken Pox

Excluded for 7 days after spots appear and all spots have crusted over.

Conjunctivitis

Excluded until discharge from eyes has stopped.

Impetigo

Excluded if on exposed part of body, ie. scalp, face, hands, legs.
May return if sores are completely covered by a clean dressing.

Measles

Excluded for 7 days from appearance of rash.

Mumps

Excluded for 10 days from the onset of swelling.

Ringworm

Excluded until all evidence has disappeared or medical certificate is produced.

Rubella

Excluded for 7 days from the appearance of rash.

Please contact your doctor concerning immunisation to protect your child against measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, polio and tetanus.
Children who have not been immunised will be excluded from school if there is an outbreak.

Dental Check

The Liverpool Child Dental Service provides free dental checks for children in years K, 2, 4 and 6. When they visit our school, an information form will be sent home informing parents of the service and seeking consent.

Primary Health Nurse

The Community Nurse will complete free health checks as part of the Department of Health Services on Kindergarten to Year 6 pupils if requested by a parent or a teacher. Parental consent is sought on an appropriate application form if this service is required.

Injured Sick/Children

Children are sent to the office when they are injured or sick. Administration staff who have first aid credentials, attend to the child. Any minor injury is treated and the child is sent back to class. More serious injuries are dealt with by:

If a child is feeling sick, parents are contacted and the same procedures apply as for an injured student.
